Evan ‘Garvey’ Simms was born and raised in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. His father, who was a guitarist, gave him a guitar for his thirteenth birthday which he didn’t experiment with much until later in life. Both his parents are pastors and at age of fourteen, he started playing drums in the church his mom was leading. At the age of seventeen, he decided to try the keyboard and immediately he fell in love with it. He then formed a gospel group called the TGD Boy’s; they performed gigs at local churches.
In 2005, Evan migrated to Canada and was introduced to CG Dillon, band leader of Colour Quest, the same year. Coincidentally, the band was searching for a keyboard player for which he auditioned and got the gig. Since then he has had the opportunity to grace the stage alongside much of the music industry with Colour Quest.
“The sky is the limit, and I’m reaching for it with one philosophy in mind: Music is life and life is music “. Something magical happens when Simms’ fingers touch the ebony and ivory keys; it seems like he is in different world, but to him that’s home….
